Yup! Don't know if this is the fastest but this is one is lightning quick. Jerry is on fire.

Best version is this one - a Seamons-Miller masterpiece.

I decided to give this one a whirl, seeing as I rarely visit the world of the early 80's. It's fast, but surely there are faster. 3/19/77 might even be a little faster than this one (78 of course always had really speedy versions, hell 76 did too, but 3/19 seems to really have laid the groundwork for the faster approach). I'm only about halfway through, but this is pretty decent so far. I like to be reminded once in a while that it's okay to like music from 1982. Keeps me from turning into a snob.

I'm happy you checked it out and were pleased! It really is okay and we're always here to help if you find yourself craving something from 1982 or (gasp) 1984!

This comes to mind:

Excellent high fidelity audience and the energy is super high. Jerry is engaged and the band is sync'd.

You know what keeps me coming back to the 80's? Jerry's FAT guitar tones, Brent's B3 organ, and Phil's 6 string bass sound. Bobby's effects in the early 80's could be pretty nice and the Drums/Space segments really took on a life of their own.

Whoa, let's not got TOO far...1984? I don't think I'm ready for that yet haha.

I dig a lot of the jams from 80-81, even 82 (I'm not even really a Brent guy but 79-81 has some stuff I find really interesting). But once '83 hits I just don't get into much of anything until around 89-90. I don't listen to the 90's with much regularity, but I have my moments. I have a lot of video from the 80's and 90's, that's usually how I get a lot of my 90's listening in.

Searching for diamonds in the rough of 1984 can be frustrating but also quite rewarding. Garcia's guitar tone is so round/full and this really makes his playing shine when he's on. I find there is a thinness to his sound after this period which takes away from the emotive qualities of his playing. Though, it does make a brief appearance in 1987. There are of course exceptions to this in particular shows of all years.
